There's a place for art

Three Shells

Three Shells

Pop art depictions of Koopa shells from Nintendo’s Super Mario games. Deco yellow, yellowed orange, and crimson red colored pencil on moleskine paper.

Cliff Lee

Cliff Lee

Poppy red and ultramarine colored pencil on moleskine paper.

Lee won two games in last year’s World Series. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do this time around.

Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong

Rollerball pen and magenta and deco yellow colored pencil on white copy paper, with some help from iPhoto.

“I’m about to throw this barrel at you, but doesn’t my tie look fabulous?”

Permanently Funny

Permanently Funny - Four Cleeses

Pop art-styled depiction of John Cleese in four roles (clockwise from top left: Basil Fawlty, the Black Knight, the Centurion from “The Life of Brian”, Archie Leach from “A Fish Called Wanda”). Ultramarine, violet, crimson red, and grass green colored pencils on white copy paper.

For something different, I made linoleum carvings of each character, placed them underneath the paper, and used the colored pencils to make rubbings.
