Packers vs. Vikings
Colored pencil on bristol board.
Done exclusively with colored pencil because I don’t have markers in several of the colors I wanted to use.
Dead Parrots Helmet
Marker on bristol board.
Inspired by, of all things, the Logo Logic quiz at Sporcle, featuring a clue about similar-looking NFL logos, with one being “alive” and the other “dead”. This got me thinking, if there was a football team called the Dead Parrots, how would its helmets look?
Killer Rabbit
Colored pencil on white copy paper.
Done a few years ago, and based on the most memorable four-legged creature from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
Happy Halloween!
Not Dead Duck
Pencil on white copy paper.
Inspired by the “bring out yer dead!” scene from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”.
Brian and the Sheep
Brian: “How can you call yourselves fighting mongooses when you all think and act alike, just like a flock of sheep? You are all individual animals, and you should start acting that way!”
Drunk ewe: “I’ve probably had twice the legal alcohol limit for a human, let alone a sheep, but one more little Irish car bomb couldn’t hurt.”
Acrylic on canvas.
Inspired by the “we’re all individuals” scene in “The Life of Brian.”
Permanently Funny
Pop art-styled depiction of John Cleese in four roles (clockwise from top left: Basil Fawlty, the Black Knight, the Centurion from “The Life of Brian”, Archie Leach from “A Fish Called Wanda”). Ultramarine, violet, crimson red, and grass green colored pencils on white copy paper.
For something different, I made linoleum carvings of each character, placed them underneath the paper, and used the colored pencils to make rubbings.
