There's a place for art

30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Thirteen

Theo Fleury

Gesture drawing of Theo Fleury, Calgary Flames. Crimson red colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.

At 5 feet, 6 inches, Fleury is the shortest NHL player ever (let’s hear it for the little guys!)

ETA: for some reason, ImageShack is acting funny today. I apologize for the picture not showing up, and I will fix it as soon as I can.

ETA 2: it should be fixed now.

30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Twelve

Kevin Dineen

Gesture drawing of Kevin Dineen, Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes. True green colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.

This was the first gesture drawing I did for the series.

30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Eleven

Mike Dunham

Gesture drawing of Mike Dunham, Nashville Predators. Gold colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.

Dunham attended the University of Maine.

30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Ten

Ilya Kovalchuk

Gesture drawing of Ilya Kovalchuk, Atlanta Thrashers. Sienna brown colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.

Kovalchuk tied for the league lead in goals scored during the 2003-04 NHL season.

30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Nine

Mattias Ohlund

Gesture drawing of Mattias Ohlund, Vancouver Canucks. True green colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.

The first pack of hockey cards I ever bought contained an Ohlund rookie card.

30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Eight

Scott Stevens

Gesture drawing of Scott Stevens, New Jersey Devils. Crimson red colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.

Stevens has captained the Devils to three Stanley Cup championships.

30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Seven

Keith Tkachuk

Gesture drawing of Keith Tkachuk, Winnipeg Jets/Phoenix Coyotes. Ultramarine colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.

Tkachuk was on the cover of at least one of Acclaim’s NHL Breakaway games.

30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Six

Ron Hextall

Gesture drawing of Ron Hextall, Philadelphia Flyers. Orange colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.

Hextall was the first goalie I did in the series of gesture drawings–I did him before I did Nikolai Khabibulin–and I consider this one to be the best of the goalies I did.

30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Five

Owen Nolan

Gesture drawing of Owen Nolan, San Jose Sharks. Aquamarine colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.

The Hockey News named Nolan the greatest player in the history of the Sharks franchise.

30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Four

Nikolai Khabibulin

Gesture drawing of Nikolai Khabibulin, Tampa Bay Lightning. Light cerulean blue colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.

In my opinion, trading for Khabibulin was the best move the Lightning ever made.
