30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Twenty-Seven

Gesture drawing of Chris Chelios, Chicago Blackhawks. Poppy red colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.
When Chelios was traded to the Red Wings, my reaction was, “Did that really happen?” Since the Red Wings and Blackhawks have had a long rivalry, I did not think he would play for the Red Wings, especially since he grew up in Chicago. He turned out to be a pretty good acquisition for the Red Wings.

Gesture drawing of Jaromir Jagr, Pittsburgh Penguins. Black colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.
Jagr was one of the best offensive players in the game while in Pittsburgh, but, save for 05-06, he never seemed to recapture his touch after he was traded.
30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Twenty-Five

Gesture drawing of Paul Kariya, Anaheim Ducks. Violet colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.
Regardless of what uniforms he has worn, I’ve always cheered for Kariya; at his peak, he was one of the best goal scorers in the game, in addition to always being a class act. It’s too bad he rarely had a decent team around him.
30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Twenty-Four

Gesture drawing of Tomas Kaberle, Toronto Maple Leafs. Ultramarine colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.
Kaberle has been one of the few good players on the Maple Leafs during their current run of ineptitude.
30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Twenty-Three

Gesture drawing of Brian Rolston, Minnesota Wild. Mulberry colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.
When the Bruins first acquired Rolston, I was disappointed, but he proved to be a very good player, and I was sad to see him leave.
30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Twenty-Two

Gesture drawing of Shayne Corson, Montreal Canadiens. Poppy red colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.
Corson is the brother-in-law of former teammate Darcy Tucker.
30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Twenty-One

Gesture drawing of Bill Guerin, Edmonton Oilers. Orange colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.
Although I remember Guerin mostly for his time with the Bruins, he first emerged as a strong goal scorer with Edmonton.
30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Twenty

Gesture drawing of Ed Jovanovski, Florida Panthers. Poppy red colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.
Jovanovski played in the Stanley Cup Finals in his rookie year.
30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Nineteen

Gesture drawing of Brett Hull, St. Louis Blues. Ultramarine colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.
Although my biggest memory of Hull is the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals (with the controversial goal), most of his career was spent in St. Louis.
30 Hockey Stars, 30 NHL Teams, 30 Gesture Drawings, 30 Days – Day Eighteen

Gesture drawing of Pat LaFontaine, New York Islanders. Orange colored pencil on standard sketchbook paper.
LaFontaine won the Bill Masterton Trophy in 1995, and has been inducted into both the Hockey Hall of Fame and the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.
